Having a digital lock provides reassurance to everyone, eliminating worries about forgetting keys and rushing home to open doors for unexpected visits from parents. However, maintenance is needed as it would extend the lifespan of the digital locks, ensuring they continue to function smoothly and reliably over time. Here are the 5 practical uses in our daily lives. 

1. Gently clean and wipe regularly
Fingerprint and PIN code are the most commonly used unlocking methods in our daily use. These methods often result in friction between our hands and the front escutcheon. As we’re aware, the natural oils produced by our skin can leave stains on the surface of the escutcheon, potentially causing issues such as insensitivity of the fingerprint sensor and keypad, leading to recognition failures.

Hence, to maintain the efficiency of fingerprint and PIN code unlocking, it’s essential to regularly clean the fingerprint sensor and keypad. When cleaning, use a dry, soft cloth and gently wipe the surface. Avoid using a wet cloth or anything abrasive, as this may cause water damage or scratches on the escutcheon.

2. Do not add lubricating oil casually
According to relevant standards, a spare mechanical lock hole is a requirement for smart door locks. However, it’s common to find that mechanical keys are rarely used in our daily lives. If left unused for an extended period, the key may encounter difficulty smoothly inserting and rotating. Some users may consider applying lubricating oil to address this issue, but this approach is not recommended. Lubricating oil can attract dust, leading to potential lock malfunctions due to dust accumulation. Instead, the recommended method is to apply a small amount of graphite or pencil powder to the slot of the lock cylinder.

3. Check the battery regularly 
The battery is not only essential for the normal operation of the smart door lock but also crucial for safety. It’s important to regularly inspect the battery, especially during hot weather or in high temperatures. If the battery level is low or if leakage is detected, prompt replacement is necessary to prevent corrosion and damage to the smart door lock.

Any damage incurred while dismantling the digital lock by yourself will be considered a man-made defect and will not be covered under warranty.
